That’s what Step 2 is all about. It’s taking the values, character traits, skills, experiences, and milestones you want for your child and creating a plan.
Sounds complicated, right? Don’t worry – it’s not. It’s not complicated, but it is intentional.

Maybe you want your child to develop confidence…

You may have a goal for your family to visit all 50 states before your child graduates…

This is the time for you to think creatively and brainstorm ways to incorporate these goals into your life.

“We Don’t Have Time!”
I know what you’re thinking. “We are already soooo busy. We cannot fit one more thing into our lives – how are we going to add this family culture stuff?”
We’d like to propose, for a moment, that you are already creating a family culture. You’ve already developed a culture based on how you live every-day moments.
Family culture isn’t created on holidays. It’s created during:

- Car rides
- Bedtime
- School Drop off
- Bathtime
- Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons
- Chore time

It takes the pressure off, doesn’t it? This isn’t some fancy plan filled with Instagram-perfect moments. It just being intentional and present during the moments you’re already having as a family.

3. Find a distraction-free time to complete the Step 2 Guide.
Just like with Step 1, focused time to discuss freely without distractions is helpful. Whether it’s getting a babysitter or scheduling time after kids are sleeping, making the extra effort will be a great investment in this process.
4. Make one change at a time.
If you’re anything like us, we look at big game plans and say, “All right! We need to change everything about our life tomorrow!”
Setting too many goals at once sets us up to fail. We’d rather focus on one thing and do it consistently. Once that one thing becomes part of our family culture, we can move on to the next thing.
