36 Bible verses for kids to learn. Includes free printable list! It’s also inevitable that our children will face difficult situations – as children and as adults. It’s our responsibility and our great privilege to provide them tools to guide them through life. What an enormous, humbling, awesome purpose we have as parents!

We believe our parenting purpose is not just to protect our children, but also prepare them to demonstrate God’s love to a broken world.

What are we doing to prepare our kids to not just survive this world, but influence it?

Learning God’s Word is a vital part of preparing our kids to love God, love people, and live our their purpose. We decided to be intentional with introducing Bible verses to our kids – verses that can be kept in their hearts & minds.

We believe our parenting purpose is not just to protect our children, but also prepare them to demonstrate God’s love to a broken world.

These Bible verses can be the soundtrack of their lives and influence their faith, choices, and behavior.

Learning God’s Word is a vital part of OUR lives as not only parents, but adults. Adulting is hard — can I get an “Amen?” I need to be reminded of these truths daily, too!

We determined an initial list of 36 Bible Verses Kids Should Know.

Verses such as:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

1 John 3:16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.

36 Bible verses for kids to learn. Includes free printable list! Each week, we have one Verse To Live By that we focus on. Here’s how we do it

We keep it clearly displayed in our home.

Kids have the incredible ability to learn whatever they’re exposed to, whether it’s the names of baseball teams, dinosaurs, or car models. We’ve decided to be intentional with what they’re exposed to, so we like to keep our Verse to Live By clearly displayed for them to read over & over.

I designed our Verses to Live By into a printable pack, with each verse designed to fit in an 8×10 frame. We keep this on display on the shelves where we spend most of our day.

We discuss the verse during our Morning Time.

We spend time together each day called Morning Time, and one of the activities we do during Morning Time is discuss our Verse to Live By. Here’s our current routine:

• Review the past few Verses to Live By. I usually start saying the first couple words, and the kids join in and say the rest of the verse.

• Say the new verse out loud several times. We want our kids to God’s Word firmly planted in their hearts, so their lives can flow from those truths.

• Hear from the kids: what do you think this verse means? Why do you think we chose this verse for you to learn?

• Discuss real-life examples. How does this verse play out in real life? Can you think of an example of when someone has displayed this truth? When have you lived out this truth?

• Application. How can we live out this verse today? This week? How did we see other family members live this out?

We educate our children at home, but these verses can be reviewed by anyone at any time!

Our sons use the verse as handwriting and cursive practice, and our daughter writes a little about it in her journal each day. By the end of the week, our kids have the verse memorized pretty well, and it becomes easy for them to reference

It’s our prayer these words settle deep into our children’s hearts and take root. We believe God’s Word never fails, and we look forward to seeing how God’s promises are carried out in our children’s lives!
